Gabriele Olivieri is a PhD student in Geographical Studies at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, where he obtained a master's degree in Political Science. He has published several articles on the geopolitics of the sea, as well as contributions to De Agostini's high school textbooks. His research thesis on the impact of fiber optic cables on underwater geopolitical environments is the result of research carried out on site at the Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute (SMMI), a center of excellence that works closely with the National Oceanographic Center (NOC). Through various experiences and collaborations abroad and in institutional contexts, such as the Institute of Research and Analysis of the Italian Ministry of Defense (IRAD), or with private companies, such as Ocean's and Cables, it has developed analytical skills in the geopolitical and geoeconomic fields.
