Hitoshi Takeshita received his B.E. and M.E. degrees in Electrical Engineering and information from the University of Tokyo, Japan in 1993 and 1995 and his Ph.D. degree in information and communication engineering from the University of Nagoya, Japan in 2019. In 1995, he joined NEC Corporation, Kawasaki, Japan. He has been engaged in the research and development of flexible core photonic network technologies and high-capacity long-haul optical transmission systems. He received the Best Paper Award from the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) in 2019, the 39th Telecommunications Advancement Foundation Special Award from the Telecommunications Advancement Foundation in 2023, respectively. He is a senior member of IEICE, a member of technical committee on Extremely Advanced Optical Transmission Technologies (EXAT), and Optoelectronics Industry and Technology Department Association (OITDA).
