Kasyapa Balemarthy received his Bachelor’s degree from IIT-Kanpur, India and the Ph.D. degree from Georgia Tech, USA both in Electrical Engineering. After working at Bell Labs on high-speed data transmission, he is currently with the Global Fiber R&D department at Lightera (formerly known as OFS). Dr. Kasyapa currently works on the design and analysis of optical fiber links for submarine, terrestrial and datacenter networks. His research has resulted in fundamental IP that led to the LaserWave Wideband Multimode Fiber. He has been awarded the IEEE JLT Best Paper Prize in 2015 and the Jack Spergel Memorial Award at IWCS in 2014.
