Lara Garrett received her Ph.D. in integrated optics from the University of Texas and then joined AT&T Bell Labs in the early days of long haul WDM transmission research. She is now Director of Product Management at SubCom, working on novel architectures to combine the flexibility of terrestrial networks with the reliability requirements of subsea networks to establish a new level of flexibility.
